The song, chanted repeatedly by a group of Arsenal fans during the October 2011 north London derby between Spurs and Arsenal, mocked the gun attack on Adebayor and his Togo team mates in Angola during the 2010 African Nations Cup which left three dead. Its chorus went:
"It should have been you, it should have been you, killed in Angola, it should have been you."
The treatment of Adebayor, who controversially left Arsenal to join Manchester City before joining their north London rivals, was condemned by both clubs. Spurs manager Harry Redknapp called the song "disgusting". "How do you chant something like that. You can't be right mentally. There were kids up there," he said.
